Durban Country Club Schools Team Championships 2015

Durban Country Club Schools Team Championships 2015

Date: 2015-05-29
Durban country club launches schools champs. This inaugural tournament brought 100 of some of the best golfers, boys and girls from 15 KZN schools to compete in the Durban country club schools team championships last week end.

The aim of this tournament was to bring young golfers from many different cultures and backgrounds together to experience competition and comradeship, as well as the experience of playing golf on one the provinces most majestic golf courses.

Amongst these golfers were teams from Inanda and Kwesethu high schools. These two teams alone boasted several single figure handicaps.

The tournament was co-sanctioned by the KZN golf union and sponsored by the Elan property group.

Also on the day, 12 Kwa Mashu primary schools children attended a golf clinic hosted by the clubs teaching professional, Don Gammon who took these youngsters through the basics of golf. These children were fairly well equipped with some exposure through a program facilitated by the SAGDB where coaching is provided on a regular basis.

Hilton College was the winning team on the day with strong competition coming from Westville girls' high school in 2nd place and Kwesethu high school in 3rd place.

Kwesethu high school also featured in the individual competition with S. Majola winning the best golfer on the day.
