Putting Sport Into The Pajero

Putting Sport Into The Pajero

Driving the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport had its ups and its downs and neither of them were disappointing. In fact going up in the Mitsubishi sport hardly required the use of the four by four mode and going down in the Sport was a breeze.

Test-driving the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was thrilling all round, the new 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine was a delight and reportedly produces an amazing 400 Newton meters of torque. That is a significant improvement from the previous engine and marvellously does it with a much lower fuel consumption.

Driving an SUV can be cumbersome for some people at times, however the Pajero Sport seemed nimble and very manoeuvrable. The new 2.5 diesel engine improved fuel efficiency and increased power output and behaved like an enthusiastic workaholic while I pushed it to the limits on the N2 and then dragged it to the muddiest track I could find. In low range 4X4 mode the Pajero Sport ambled through some really soft stuff. I was really impressed in the Sport's ability to select and change 4X4 mode on the fly, even at speeds of up to 80 k's per hour. No more stopping and reversing or stopping and driving on for a few meters before the 4X4 engages. The Super Select 4x4 system made it so simple even a toddler could do it.

With the amazing results Mitsubishi has achieved on the Dakar, I need not harp on too much about its off road capabilities, the Pajero Sport just builds on these, and the safety element, both active and passive are quite comprehensive.

The interior is as plush as a corporate executive would want it to be and all seven seats afford ample leg room and comfort.
